Shed preservation using treated timbers

Your garden shed involves much furniture and it is very important that your shed contains furniture's made out of treated timbers. This is mainly because of the fact that your shed is most likely to get exposed to harsh weather conditions throughout the year from dry summers to torrential winters. Preserving your shed with pressurized treated timber is critical for proper maintenance to prolong its lifetime. Untreated timber materials rots and decays over a period of time from rainfall and harsh winter conditions. To avoid this, most shed manufacturers provide spray treatment of sheds to increase its lifetime and sustain the harsh weather conditions.

Pressure treatment of timber prolongs the lifetime of sheds more when compared to the spray treatment counterpart provided by shed manufacturers. And most shed manufacturers don't provide pressure treatment of wood. This pressure treatment keeps your shed rot free and decay free for over ten years irrespective of the fact whether the shed is in contact with the ground or not. Pressure treatment induces water repellent properties to timber apart from just water resistant features. It allows the water to glide off smoothly from the surface of the timber instead of allowing it to sit and pool on the surface. This is the key factor for enhancing the life time of the treated timber products and keeps it rot free for significant amount of time period. The water doesn't sit and seep through the wood which enhances the quality of the timber and helps you to sustain your shed.

Pressure Treatment Operation: Shed preservation using treated timbers

The timber is loaded in to the treatment vessel and the vessel is filled with vacuum. This vacuum removes off the air from the timber cells. Once the vessel is filled with vacuum, the cylinder is filled with Tanalith E preservative along with other additional preservatives.

Hydraulic pressure is then applied to the timber. This hydraulic pressure forces the preservative deeper in to the structure of the timber. This hydraulic pressure treatment covers the timber with preservatives inside out rather than just applying the preservatives on the outside. Structurally the timber becomes stronger and water repellent by nature. Now that the preservatives are mixed along the genes of the timber, the vacuum is removed and the excess preservative used is pumped back in to the storage for treating other timber pieces.

In spray treatment, the preservatives are applied only on the outside of the timber wood and thus timber inherits only water resistant properties. This does prolong the life time of the wood but considerably much lesser than the pressure treatment method.

The pressure treatment allows the timber to be covered with preservatives both inside as well as outside which enables the timber to be rot free or decay free for several years to come. This makes the timber for the sheds more reliable than usual. Pressure treated timbers literally makes it impossible for rainfall or other harsh weather condition to penetrate through. A shed is an investment for most people and thus pressure treated timber sheds reduces much maintenance and repair costs and is the most suitable material for your garden shed.
