Scar Laser Treatment

Laser treatments can get rid of not only your active acne

, but also scars from previous breakouts. Many people choose to use lasers that work on both types at the same time, or undergo laser scar treatment after they've undergone laser treatment for their active acne. For most of us, it's about the pain, or perceived pain we may experience from a treatment - any kind of a medical procedure. Whether it be surgery or skin-related, pain is usually a big deal. Medical science has come a long way during the last century, and pain reduction has been a big part of that success. One of the most popular forms of laser treatments uses what is referred to as a non-ablative laser. With this laser, instead of burning off the affected layers of the skin, it instead works its magic below the skins surface to both stimulate the production of collagen and improve the texture by firming it up. While this is great, this procedure does little as an acne scar laser treatment.

There are two main types of lasers used in acne scar treatment, namely ablative (resurfacing) and non-ablative lasers. Ablative lasers burn away scar tissue by heating and removing the top skin tissue which stimulate the skin to tighten up, thereby rendering scars less visible. The ablative laser method uses a laser to vaporize the external layers of the skin and thus, eliminating the undesired scar tissue. As a result of this procedure, the collagen will be firmed up causing lower scar visibility. Natural cosmetics can be used to cover up any remaining scars. For this acne scar laser treatment, particular kind of lasers, known as erbium and ultra pulsed carbon dioxide lasers are utilized. However, as this kind of treatment leaves the unshielded skin exposed, necessary skin wound care should be used on the skin.

In a laser procedure for scars, the patient will undergo a treatment called Fraxel in different sessions for 3 months. Depending on the progress, another laser treatment will be done after 6 months after the last laser treatment session. The demographics for laser scar success is as high as 55% to 70% for most of the patients even after only 3 months of treatment. Laser treatment side effects only include swelling and redness; you can be assured that lasers don't get your scarred at all.

More so, you will not be confronted with the habit of putting concealing creams in your scars. You can even go out and let other people see how fair your skin is. This happens too because the very first thing that is being attacked by the laser is the sebaceous glands which secrete oils to our skin and cause to the formation of acne as well.
