Safe Remedies For the Treatment of Lice

Many people are suffering from being infested with head lice, and they are usually very anxious to learn what the best treatment of lice is. Before starting to look for an herbal remedy or treatment, it is important for you to know some things about head lice and its nits, or eggs.

These pests are categorized as Pediculosis capitis. Lice are tiny and wingless parasites that feed on human blood. This may cause severe itching to the head of the person infested. These pests can be acquired through direct head-to-head contact with the person infested. Although these creatures may be very annoying, the good news is that there is more than one home remedy that can be used as treatment of lice infestations. Most are safe and natural. Here are some simple steps that you can go through to get rid of a lice infestation:

Step 1

Before starting with the process, make sure to clear the area and free it from carpets, rugs, towels or clothes Lice often stick into these kinds of items, particularly when disturbed.

If the person infected has long hair, tie the hair at the crown.

Dip a cotton swab into the cleansing liquid, and apply it in the areas around the ears and along the hairline. Keep saturating the hair until you reach the crown, where you tied the hair. Do not miss behind the ears, or the areas at the back of the neck.

After doing so, apply the lice cleanser and make sure that the hair is saturated completely. Massage the head and work on it until a lather is formed.

Using a nits comb, work through the hair to spread the solution until it is entirely covered and then wrap the hair up.

Keep massaging the scalp, at 10 minute intervals, for at least 30 to 40 minutes.

Apply the cleanser once again, and do the same procedure for 20 minutes.

Allow the cleanser to seep in before rinsing it off.

After rinsing the hair, use an ordinary comb to remove the tangles. Then, divide the hair into sections. Start combing the hair, using a nits comb to remove all dead head lice and nits.

Step 2

When you are done treating the hair, make sure to wash all recently used bed linings and clothing.

These items should be washed at 140 degrees, or you will not be able to kill the nits and the lice that stick to it. To get better results, prewash the items for at least 30 minutes before the final wash.

Aside from that, carpets, furniture and car upholstery should be vacuumed, and the bag taken off of the vacuum cleaner. Lice and nits should be disposed of properly.

To completely eliminate a lice infestation, make sure to get rid of it from your body, and from the surrounding areas, as well. If you are unsuccessful in the treatment of lice, your children and you will have to undergo treatment over again.
