If you live in the Denver area, high winds and hail are just a part of life. Your home can be damaged by these and you may not be aware of it. Now you're probably like most people and wonder if it's worth making a claim for something that didn't do "noticeable" damage? The answer is YES. Both wind and hail storms can seriously affect the integrity of your roof, siding, windows and gutters without leaving obvious damage. The result could be a major costly problem in a year or so, and by then it will be too late to have the insurance pay for it. Why? Because there is a time limit with most insurance carriers on how long after a storm that you can still file a claim. Now after that time period is up, your insurance carrier will not only agree that you have storm related damage, but the may also deny any future claims because you never had the necessary repairs made.

Most people are understandably confused by the claim process. Unfortunately there are a lot of myths out there, some of which are: If I file a claim, then I'll lose my coverage or it will raise my premium. FALSE. There are state laws in place to protect you from that happening. The Insurance Company will send its own roofer out to do the work and I won't have any say over the quality or schedule of the work. FALSE. You the homeowner are responsible for choosing the contractor that you are most comfortable with. My roof is new so it's covered by the manufacturers warranty. FALSE. Warrantees become null and void after a storm has caused damage.

So to conclude if there was a hail storm in your area or you suspect damage call a professional company to determine whether or not you should file a claim for storm related damage.
