Reasons why teenagers doesn't have clear concept of right and wrong!
I have observed that some teenagers think what is wrong in drinking or smoking. Also sometimes they take flirting as right. they say it's just a part of fun. But in this fun, they forget that they are doing fun,but the other person doesn't know. That person can get easily hurt. Sometimes while playing truth and dare game, they don't find misbehavingor being rude aswrong. Again they justify it as "we are just playing"What are the reasons that teenagers find wrong things as right?lets consider this;
1. Firstly,I believe this is because the lack of attention from parents towards children. Parents often support their young children when they lie to save their position. Parents are like" oh! how sharp my child is". Sometimes when children abuse, parents say in an enjoying tone" oh how naughty" what are the consequences ofthis?? This strengthens the feeling of doing wrong things. This way, when they grow up, they develop strong views of doing wrong and they can easily justify it. At this stage, it is very hard to change their views.
2. Teenagers whose parents drink, or smoke, their children doesn't feel anything wrong or bad in smoking or flirting. They know that they can easily get rid of any charge or scoldings saying " you also smoke or drink" and this is where parents are speechless.
3. Thirdly, friend's company also counts alot. If a quiet teenager hasbold, outgoing, outspoken friends, he/she will easily get attracted and so influenced to adopt their bad habits as well.
When children are moving in teenage life, they find things very thrilling. They are brave, bold and they don't get easily threatened. They are rediwit in nature. Many things are new to them. They want to try for it. Flirting, Hurting, Playing with feelings of opposite gender, lying, abusing, fighting, drinking, smoking are their favorite games. Therefore, they must know that the above mentioned and other bad habits are wrong. Their sense of right and wrong must be so developed and clear that they never select wrong over right.
It is very important that parents take extreme care of their teenage children. because at this stage they are quite confused between what is right or wrong. They have the many answers to one question. For example; Is fast driving right or wrong?they can have following answers;
1. It's right. My father always drives fast.
2. it's right because everyone does.
3. it's right because it is thrilling. What's so interesting in slow snail speed driving.
4. its wrong because it can kill people n etc etc
So, parents must keep an eagle's eye on their teenage children to build right views of everything. And for this, they must first change their wrong habits. If they smoke, drink, talk on cell phone while driving, they must change their attitudes. Because it's not abouta teenager, it's about one whole generation that the teenager is going to continue.
