Rave KaZantip - Where To Find Hotels For Stay by:Danya Putin

Does anyone who goes to kaZantip really care of where to stay there - at a hotel

, guesthouse or right on the beach?! The only exclusion may be those few who want to secure their belongings for traveling back to their homes! Known for its rave, care-free, intense partying, kaZantip attracts lots of young folks who love freedom and of course, some great music gala.

The young people of Soviet Russia were once deprived of such an enjoyment for over 70 years. All kinds of rock and electronic music were banned. Now Ukraine has opened up its doors to relinquish this thirst of millions of techno music-lovers. This music festival happens every summer for 5-6 weeks and takes place on the beaches of Popovka, a small resort town in the Western Crimea, right on the coast of the Black Sea. Popovka is also known for relatively cheap hotels and wide, sandy beaches.

Declared by themselves as kaZantip Republic (or simply called as 'Z' Republic), this superb music event was founded by some bay surfers after a long day of surfing, when they had no much to do and felt bored. That happened for the first time, way back in 1995, in the Kazantyp highlands, a coastal area on the shore of the Azov Sea, in the north of Crimea. Thus the festival derived its world-wide known name, kaZantip. Later on, in 2001, the festival moved to Popovka, a coastal town in the Western part of Crimea but it kept its original name. Nikita, the president of 'Z' Republic, is the master mind in devising such a festival in a bigger way and in introducing latest techno- trance electronic music for it to reach all over Russia, Europe and other parts of the world. He gave a unique atmosphere and tone to the festival. kaZantip is quite different from all kinds of music events and festivals being held in USA or Europe.

The participants of kaZantip are usually called paradiZers. This festival has hosted nearly 150,000 paradiZers in 2009 and the number is expected to grow this year. In 2010, this festival is called Z:18, to mark the 18th year of kaZantip, and is held between 31st of July and 22nd of August. Held in an area of 60,000 square meters, on the beaches of Popovka, kaZantip attracts all leading DJs and music troops of Ukraine, Russia and Europe. The music is played continuously for more than 21 hours a day, while the paradiZers swim or dance or booze (though restricted by the organizers) or take sunbathes on the beaches and enjoy the music.

Most of the young crowd stay and sleep right on the sandy beaches of Popovka during the festival. However, there is a rise in the construction of new hotels and accommodation facilities in and around Popovka. The popularity of kaZantip as a global music event attracts a lot of international travelers, thus increasing the need to build good apartments or hotels for a decent stay. There is a number of travel agencies in Crimea that help in booking accommodations for individuals or groups of people visiting kaZantip. If you are late with booking, you may be offered accommodations in near-by villages, like Shtormovoye, Molochnoye, Yevpatoria - as Popovka will not hold such a density of paradiZers, in terms of accommodation.

Hotel reservation can be made through some travel websites. The rent of a hotel room near kaZantip typically depends on the duration of stay and the number of people in the group. You may expect to pay about $1000-1200 for a quality two-room hotel suite, for a 14 night stay, while standard accommodation or apartment rental would cost some cheaper. This cost does not include airport transfers from/to Simferopol, which is located some 100 km away.

If you have not set your vacation plan for this coming summer yet, consider going to kaZantip. This biggest and longest techno-electronic musical event of Ukraine would be a great experience you are unlikely to forget soon. KaZantip and hotels of Popovka are waiting for you!
