Raising Our Children
Our children are not to be ignored or even put into a corner where there choices are made to look stupid.
Whatever age they are, we need to listen to their ideas, help them achieve their personal goals, and give them a greater responsibility at earlier ages, if they so desire.
Our children are the future but ignoring them when they are speaking up, humiliating them in front of others, and telling them they don't understand, must stop. They understand more than you think. The technology that they are expected to learn proves what they are capable of.
It's time we sit down and listen to the "future". We are a different world today and our lives are meant to change and adapt to a new world. Our children will help us, if we let them. They will bring about necessary change in juvenile situations if only we would hear what they have to say.
They are not victims but it is up to us, the adults, to allow them to see the importance of their ideas and their lives. I believe we should form groups nationwide, where the youth can take part in our government. It is important we, as parents. stop telling them to see things the way we do, and open up our hearts to see how they see.
Part of education is familiarizing them with our world, and the responsibilities each will one day face. The reason we have so many school shootings it's because we are not hearing their voices. Many that go to violence have hearts broken and they feel no one listens to them.
Let's begin to embrace our children and listen to their hearts. Teach them that we all affect each other and our choices are important. Help them to feel that their voice counts.
