She used abusive language and really harassed her daughter Diana. Little did she know the psychological torture she was subjecting her daughter to ,Diana grew with a mind set that, the world is a place of abusive and cruel people, as no one around her tried to show any sign of love. Her mother was traumatized as a result of divorcing her husband, Neighbors were just laughing at this, and Diana schooling mate had made her a laughing stock. How I wish Diana's mother could have taken some counseling therapies, which could have enabled her look at life from a different angle hence applying positive attitude even in bringing up her only daughter.
Diana has grown in hate, separation and abusive environment ,which had an effect of great magnitude to her health and mental growth. She has lived a life of fear and mistrust. To her everyone looks like an enemy, she cannot even trust her biological mother ,due to the bad parenting skills, applied by her mother, as she was growing up. Diana cant make decision on her own she fears that what ever she does or decide to do ,will be looked upon and dismissed as untidy and poor. Nothing she does that her mother appreciates, no matter how Diana tries to give it her best. Sometimes she doesn't even comment and this really hurt Diana's emotion.
Good parenting is essential, and the rule of unconditional positive regard, should be observed to the letter. If your child does something nice, always recommend them .
Below are some of the ways that you can use to appreciate you children;
Buying gifts for your kids when they do well in school or perform the household chores as you authorized. This will go a long way in helping your kids feel appreciated ,loved and cared for.
Al ways use right and non abusive language when addressing your children.
Take your children for outings, this will help them get exposed to other environment other than the school environment this will also give them exposure to so many other things.
Make a room for your children to make decision for themselves, you may also ask them of their opinion on different matters.
"Work without play makes jack a dull boy", give your children a chance to play and even relate well with the children in the neighborhood.
Make known to your child, the benefits of being a person of good morals in the society and always teach them the word of God
Be a role model to your children, as they always learn more from their parents other than from other people.
I call upon all parents to learn how to deal with their own issues before diverting their tempers and bad feelings to their children, Just like Diana's mother ,she was supposed to undergo a counseling therapy first ,to deal with the issue of divorce and also be trained on how to bring up her daughter in such an environment.
Every action has a price to pay, and this is what Diana's mother is paying. Due to poor parenting Diana has suffered such a great psychological pressure.
