No matter what type of site you have you are looking for pre-qualified traffic. This is traffic that is looking for what you have. If you are an information site, you want visitors that are looking for the information you have. If you are an e-Commerce site you want visitors that want to buy the products you have. Many site owners get wrapped up in how many people are visiting their site. They are easily excited by overall site volume and not paying attention to the type of traffic they are receiving.
For instance, a new site owner may ask friends, family and colleagues to visit the site. The new site owner may even ask people on a blog to simply visit the site and give their opinion as to design, graphics and overall appearance. The site may have visitors, but how many sales will be generated from this type of visit?

Build Pre-Qualified Traffic through Multiple Funnels
First, you need to understand the sources of pre-qualified traffic. Each will take a different type of approach, varying degrees of effort and will have varying degrees of results.

Identify your Traffic Funnels
Search Engines. Google, Yahoo and MSN are the 3 big boys. However, you are trying to build traffic. A single pre-qualified visitor is all that is needed to generate a sale. Don't forget about the other search engines when it comes to building site traffic.
PPC and CPC Campaigns. This method is not free but may be one of the best methods of driving pre-qualified traffic to a site. If you have the budget then there are some high-quality visitors to be bought.
Article Directories. This method will take some effort but is well worth the trouble in the long run. Targeted articles with relevant content will get published across the Internet on various sites. Your link(s) are allowed to be included in the author's resource box at the bottom of the article. These links provide two benefits in that they show links to the search engines back to your site and they also will drive pre-qualified traffic to your site.
Blogs. For the most part, blogs do not want you advertising on their site through your entries. However, if you show your knowledge and expertise through your blog entries and always sign with your name followed by your site address you will get pre-qualified traffic to your site.
Classified Ads. Yes, there are such things on the Internet and in a lot of cases they are free. There are sites that will allow you to post hundreds of classified ads for your site and your products with links directly to your site. These sites will want you to upgrade to a premium listing but you do not have to do that in order to obtain results to your ads. Mass E-mails. I am not talking about SPAM. I am talking about building a database of people who have signed up on your site to receive newsletters, product updates and product announcements. Building this list is imperative to the long-term success of your site. Build a base of repeat customers to your site. Do you think that successful brick and mortar stores are profitable because they sell to someone once and never again? No way! You worked hard to get the customer. Now, work harder to keep them and sell to them again.
The Results
Through using multiple traffic funnels you can build a site with true pre-qualified visitors. Doing so will increase your conversion rate, your sales and your profits.
If you bring 35 visitors to your site through search engines and 25 more through your PPC campaigns that gets you quickly to 60 visitors. Add in 20 from the articles you have written and 10 from your blog activity and you are at 90 visitors. Finally, through keeping in touch with your customers you now add another 10 visits you now find that you are at 100 pre-qualified visitors per day.
If your site is running a 2% conversion rate then you have 2 sales per day. Not bad for starters.
Continue your efforts in each area and you will grow your pre-qualified traffic through each of these funnels. If you are not happy with 100 visitors per day, then optimize your site, create optimized landing pages, write articles, participate in more blogs and continue to keep in touch with your ever-growing customer base.
