As we have traumatic stress on our spine the jelly substance in the middle of the disc can start to travel outwards causing a disc bulge, and sometimes even a disc herniation. Recently, we had a patient come into our office that was suffering from severe neck pain that was radiating down his left arm all the way into his fingers. The pain was so excruciating for this patient that he could not accomplish simple activities of daily living such as washing dishes and folding laundry. When entering our office, this patient rated his pain a 10 out of 10 on our pain scale. Dr. Cohen started this patient with a series of chiropractic adjustments with our special weighted rehab to help improve spinal structure. This patient received significant relief from treatment at our office but still had pain in the cervical spine and the left arm. We then sent this patient out for a MRI of the cervical spine to see the integrity of the discs. The MRI results revealed that this patient did have a disc herniation in his cervical spine.
