Planning a trip to the continent
I am very excited about the coming year as I am planning a road trip through Europe. I have been working really hard so that I can save plenty of money for the adventure. I am working, days at a fast food outlet and evenings at the local supermarket. The plan is to take a whole month and travel through various parts of the Continent. I am going with two friends so that we can share the expense of petrol. We are hoping to set off in September to avoid peak season prices. We have a vague idea about the route but nothing finalised as yet. We all definitely want to make a stop in Paris. We all want to see the Eiffel Tower and take a cruise along the Seine River. We are also agreed on stopping in Milan to do some shopping followed by a short break at Lake Como so we can relax. I would then like to spend some time exploring the south of Italy at a leisurely pace but I still have to get my friends to agree to that. Before we set off we really do need to do some budgeting. The biggest expense is going to be the petrol. I am lucky enough to have a brand new Volkswagen Golf Kent car bought for me by my dad on my 21st Birthday so hopefully repairs will be at a minimum. Other considerations to take into account are accommodation, food and sightseeing expenses. I don't mind staying in some low budget hotels but I would not mind a little luxury as well. I have found a beautiful little hotel in the south of Italy. Every room has a private balcony with a view stretching far out over the sea. I can already imagine myself sitting back in the late afternoon sun with a cold, crisp, glass of white wine followed by a heavenly dinner on the terrace below. I had better stop dreaming now and get ready for another days hard grind. It will all be worth it in the end.
