. This is a fantastic place to choose as a vacation because there are so many things to do.

You can also save a lot of money because these things are all free. There is also a variety of things you can choose to do so everyone in your family will be entertained.

One thing that you may be interested in doing as a family is visiting the National Zoo. The two panda's Mei Xiang and Tian Tian are a special feature of this zoo.

Another thing you may want to do is visit the Rock Creek Park. This park is the location of a planetarium operated by the National Park Service.

This is a fantastic place to learn about the stars. For those who are interested, there are special shows that are occasionally held.

After you visit the planetarium you may want to visit the Freer and Sackler Gallery. This gallery is the home of a lot of famous art and it is a great place to participate in an art project yourself.

Following this activity visit the National Mall with DC by Foot. DC by Foot is a walking tour company that caters to children.

This company incorporates fun games, fun facts, and interesting trivia to keep both you and your children entertained. This is a great way to get an overview of Washington DC and an idea of what you would like to see in further detail the following day.

The next day you may want to visit the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Here you can learn about the process of printing money.

This is a free tour during which you can see money made. You may even be able to make some money yourself.

After you learn about how money is made you may want to take the Gargoyle Tour around the National Cathedral. This magnificent cathedral is surrounding by beautiful and stunning grounds.

The gargoyles you will see on this tour represent a lot of history. If you fear this may be too boring for some of your children, keep in mind that one gargoyle is even designed to be like Darth Vader.

By the time you are done it will be time for lunch. Take an enjoyable picnic lunch in the medieval Bishop's Garden.

This garden is also stunningly beautiful. It is also a great place to let children run around and expend energy.

After lunch you will have to pay a trip to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Your children will be able to pretend they are the pilots of these magnificent planes.

They can even climb in the mock cockpit in the America by Air. This magnificent museum is a must see for all families who visit the Washington DC area.

The next day you may want to visit the National Museum of Natural History. This museum features a beautiful and intriguing Butterfly Pavilion.

Your youngsters will be fascinated by the wide collection of brilliant colors. They may even be able to see a butterfly break out of its chrysalis.

Later, visit the National Museum of American History. This museum is a great place to learn and teach your children about the history of America.

In this museum you will see the original flag that inspired the song "Star-Spangled Banner" to be written. There is also an extensive exhibit on the presidents of the United States.

In this exhibit you will be able to learn the story of each president. As you continue, you will even be able to see Dorothy's real red slippers in the exhibit entitled "National Treasure of Popular Culture."

Then, continue onto the Discovery Theater in the Smithsonian. These shows are very family friendly and they feature everything from puppet shows to tap dancing. Planning A Day In Washington Dc


This is a great opportunity to sit down for a while if you have been walking around all day. Later that evening you may want to let your children play at the Friendship Park.

This park is also known as Turtle Park. It is very popular because of the huge sandbox that is located here.

Then, take the Metrorail back to your hotel room for the night. Your trip to Washington D.C. will be a very rewarding and memorable experience.
