Personal Trainers Are All The Same?

Personal Trainers Are All The Same?

Personal training is a personal thing. All people are different, and that goes for personal trainers as well. Choosing the right personal trainer for your goals should take some time and reflection to determine what's available.

Trainers specialize in various aspects of fitness from strength training to cardio. Others shun traditional weight machines for chains, agility ladders, boxes and kettle-bells, giving their personal training sessions an all-terrain boot camp aura. Personal trainers with a background in martial arts will often include self-defense moves in their sessions, and those with a background in dance will include ballet and Pilates motions in their personal training style.

If you go to the gym make sure you research all the styles of the personal trainers at your gym. Personal trainer should teach the same safety and good form on all equipment, but the fun starts when each personal trainer uses the available equipment in his or her own way.

One personal trainer might use a 10-pound weight plate on a barbell for bench presses. Another will tie the weight plate to a rope around her client's waist and make the client crawl across the floor. Still another will use that same weight plate in sessions for two or more people, for example, having partners pass the weight plate back and forth in a core drill.

If you do not have access to personal training through a membership at a fitness facility, you are not out of options. Self-employed personal trainers often network with clubs and studios to give their clients access to the same level of equipment. Most personal trainers will bring all the equipment you need to have a great workout. For safety, never train alone.

Knowing what your mind and body are both ready for will help you select the perfect style of personal trainer for your needs and goals. Beginners should build a strong foundation; you're not looking for a personal trainer with crazy ideas. If you are sick of all the old ideas, and you are thrilled with the notion of dragging a weight plate around, well, go find that crazy trainer! Your body loves change, and laughter, and so do personal trainers!

Just remember finding someone to help with your goals to get you past the fat loss roadblocks can be just what you needed for you to achieve your goals.
