Pcos Treatments - Surgery

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a strange condition for most of us

, even though it is very common. We may have many symptoms of the condition but we have no idea why this is happening to us. However, in order to know when we should start looking for help, it is essential to be familiar with PCOS.

What Exactly Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Is?

If you are suffering from PCOS, it means that your hormones are out of balance. This can cause many complications in women, such as infertility and menstruation problems.

Typically, the first symptoms of PCOS occur already during teen age. There are a variety of visible symptoms that can be associated with PCOS. Some of the most common ones include skin problems, abnormal hair growth, and losing hair.

However, the symptoms above can be related to some other malfunctions in the human body as well. Other symptoms, that are not visible, include irregular or absence of menstruation, infertility, and sometimes depression.

When Surgery Is Necessary?

If a couple is suffering from infertility due to PCOS, then surgery may become an option. Otherwise, other PCOS treatment options are recommended and surgery should be used only if it is absolutely necessary. There are many other treatments available today that can offer relief for the sufferer.

There are two forms of surgery to choose. Ovarian wedge resection is a surgery avoided, mainly because of its dangers to the ovaries. Laparoscopic ovarian drilling removes the cysts from the woman to allow for easier fertility. Most doctors are willing to perform this surgery.

Conclusion

Knowing what PCOS is helps determine what needs to happen. Although most doctors prefer to use other PCOS treatment methods to help the condition, they do sometimes need to resort to surgery.

The two surgical operations above can help a woman to become pregnant if she is suffering from infertility caused by PCOS. However, these operations do not cure PCOS. In fact, PCOS is not easy to cure completely because it affects so many parts of the woman's body.

With all the treatments available it is best to work with the doctor at all times to make sure that the right treatment is picked. Infertility is a hard topic to discuss with anyone, especially if hurtful comments are involved without realizing it.

The doctors may suggest different treatments for each patient, but trusting in the doctor is a key to fulfilling life's dreams. If PCOS affects someone, the doctors can answer the questions and give the right guidance.

Surgery might be your last chance to be able to have a baby of your own and start a family. However, since it is the last option, doctors want to go through all the other options before resorting to any surgical operation..
