Parenting Teens Who Are Plugged Into Technology

Parenting Teens Who Are Plugged Into Technology

If we do not take the time to teach our kids...there is someone else who is stepping in and attacking our children every waking moment

. They know just how to grab and hold their attention.

Companies know how to trigger addictive endorphins and dopamine within our brain and bake that into every product they sell. This is used to influence young people through the internet, gaming consoles, iPods, Facebook, and just about everything else your kids are plugging into today.

Everyday, parents lose the ability to teach and guide their kids properly because the addictive sex and violence in music, TV, internet, and video games takes over. Many are already addicted exhibiting that same behaviors as those in alcohol and narcotic treatment facilities.

Consider this fact: by the time a child is six years old, they will have spent more time watching television than the amount of time they will spend talking to their fathers...in their entire lifetime. By the time some kids are 8 and 10 years old, they're watching TV and playing video games and computers for 20 hours or more every week!Parenting Teens Who Are Plugged Into Technology

It's what they're seeing and hearing that's scary...

Take a look at the shows they watch ... like MTv; the music and lyrics they listen to, like Lady Gaga; the computer sites they visit, like UTube; the video games they play, like Grand Theft Auto, Dante's Inferno (Man follows Woman to Hell), and Doom, which actually influenced the Columbine Massacre.

Do you really want your kids being programmed by this stuff?

Even something as benign as Guitar Hero (I'm guilty, it came into my house). Take a close look at this seemingly innocent Guitar Hero video game your kids are mesmerized with. It has strippers on poles! Listen to the sexual and violent lyrics they're listening to over and over. If someone came up and grinded on poles and said those lyrics to you kid in person, you'd run the other way so fast it would make your head spin.

So why don't we take them away from all the gadgets that are sending them these sexual and violent images and messages to our kids right under our own noses?

Companies have provided all of the alluring products that give our kids texting, sexting, and all of the inappropriate "how to's" that instantly stream across the screens you're children are looking at on a daily basis? Look who's actually teaching the next generation X, Y, and Z that would be the same list as above! Pretty scary...

Corporate America knows it can get more money from parents who are too busy and too guilty to resist their kids' demand for that which drives them further and further from the people who care about them and the character they should be developing.

It's gone so far that kids are actually being hospitalized for their addiction to the trash they're being fed. Take a look at this major news headline from 2009:

"America's first internet addiction treatment facility has opened its doors, and already has its first patient, a 19 year old teen, hopelessly addicted to World of Warcraft."

Do you want this to be your child?

If not, take time to do something different ... something that will help them grow up with the values and morals you know are right. Teach your kids how to say "no" to violent video games and other bad influences they'll be bombarded with, especially when they're friends are pressuring them. Set limits. And most importantly, help them build the character and confidence they need to get through a lifetime of choices. They are worth it. You Make a Difference!
