Papillon Helicotper's Grand Canyon Tours

Papillon Helicotper's Grand Canyon Tours

Flying above the Grand Canyon in a Papillon Helicopter is a must if you vacation in Las Vegas

. Established in 1965, Papillon is the world's biggest helicopter tour company, flying about 600,000 travelers each year on air tours to the National Park.

Papillon's fleet is 48-aircraft strong and growing. These helis are designed for sightseeing, and have wraparound windows for maximum visibility, stadium-style seating for great views, and taped tour narratives in more than 10 languages.

For you helicopter geeks, Papillon's fleet models include the Bell 206L, 206B, Bell 407, A-Star 350B, BA B2, MD900, and the EcoStar (EC130).

Each aircraft is equipped with a two-way sound system. This is essential as it lets you talk with your pilot, travel partner, and fellow passengers as you fly above this magnificent landscape.Papillon Helicotper's Grand Canyon Tours

Papillon's helicopter tours originate from the heliport at Boulder City, located southeast from McCarran International, Las Vegas' official airport. Tour packages include hotel pick up (usually 1.5 hours before departure) and drop off. Those packages that include a ground segment (bottom landing, rim-top landing, Grand Canyon Skywalk) also come with a light snack or lunch.

Papillon flies the West Rim (120 miles from Las Vegas) and the South Rim. The best-selling West Rim tour is the Grand Celebration. For South Rim travelers, book The Majestic.

The basic West Rim heli tour is about four hours. En route, you'll fly over historic Hoover Dam, sapphire-blue Lake Mead, the stunning Grand Wash Cliffs, and a host of primordial volcanoes. As you approach Grand Canyon West, you'll either fly back to Vegas, land at the top of the Rim, or descend to the bottom of the Canyon. For those who choose a bottom-landing flight, a river rafting upgrade is offered.

The typical South Rim flight departs Grand Canyon Airport at Tusayan. From Las Vegas, there aren't any direct flights to the South Rim. You must book either a bus/heli or airplane/heli package (Grand Canyon Deluxe w/ Helicopter). The tour flies directly into the Dragoon Corridor, the deepest, widest section of the Canyon, where you'll see sheer cliffs and incredible rock spires and temples. The trip flies on to the isolated North Rim before returning to South's Kaibab plateau.

The price for Papillon's helicopter trips are extremely competitive. But if you want to really bulk up on savings, it's strongly recommended that you book online via their safe and secure website, which can save you up to 40 percent.
