Packing Shipments That Are Traveling From The Us To Canada

Packing Shipments That Are Traveling From The Us To Canada

Using your New Mexico courier services to ship goods from the US to Canada is a little

bit different than just using the same services to ship within the country. When you're shipping from the US to Canada, there are essentially three additional considerations which you need to add on to your normal concerns about shipping. First, there will be extra fees that you need to pay. Secondly, there will be additional paperwork you need to fill out. Finally, you need to approach packaging your shipments in a slightly different way whenever shipping across an international border.

When you're sending a package across an international border, you need to realize that it is likely going to be subjected to certain situations and stresses which won't be the case when you're only shipping domestically. You need to pack your goods in order to prepare for these situations so that they don't become damaged during shipping in any way.

The most important thing to keep in your mind is that your packages stand a good chance of being opened when they're being shipped into another country. Ensuring that packages contain what they say they do is a very important job, and in order to do it properly, your packages must often be opened.

First, this means that you should make sure that your breakables are both secured in the package, and that packages are labeled if it is critical that they are opened a certain way. That will prevent anything breakable from ending up on the floor the minute a package is opened.

If you have a shipping label on your box, good practice is to put it not on any seams of the box. That way there is no chance of it being damaged if the box is opened. Another good idea is to always include a second copy of the shipping address inside the package itself. That way, if the label is damaged in any way during an inspection, the couriers can still clearly see where the package is headed.

Also, make sure that you do not package a shipment too tightly. When things are stuffed into a box to the point of bursting and that package is opened, it can be very difficult for someone to get everything back together again. In most cases, inspectors of packages don't have time to deal with situations like this. Protect your packages by making sure that they don't have too.
