As it contains the fluid which contains cancerous cells and when it bursts the fluid comes in contact with the other organs in the pelvic region such as bladder, ovary, fallopian tubes and intestines. This fluid coming out of the cyst may scar the organs and cause infertility.
Ovarian Dermoid cyst is a weird tumor that usually benign in the ovary and contains a vast diversity of tissues of teeth, bone, hair, thyroid, etc. It is developed from a totipotential germ cell that is retained within the ovary. It may occur at any age but the prime age is in the childbearing years. To cure this form of a cyst the methods used are laparotomy or laparoscopy. It can also create torsion or the twisting of the ovary, and it may lead to immediate surgery.
There are various methods to treat a cyst. Some cysts that block the blood supply to the ovary and continue to grow and may even contain cancer causing cells, need treating to avoid any negative consequences. Apart from the traditional methods like herbs such as blue cohosh, antioxidant supplements, homeopathic concoctions made from various plant and animal extracts, many women prefer some other remedies such as hypnotherapy.
The most common treatment process is prescribing oral contraceptives to the women who have a cystic history. These tablets are rich in hormones called progesterone and estrogen, which prevent the formation of a cyst and control menstrual cycle.
