Options For Having Your Wisdom Teeth Removed

When you know that you are going to have to have your wisdom teeth removed you want

to make sure that you are taking the proper steps to have this done. There are many different ways that you can have this procedure done and you should understand all options.

First, you should talk with your dentist. More than likely, when you are having your check up with your dentist he or she will see your teeth coming in on the x-ray and will instigate a discussion with you about what options you have.

Listen to all of the options that your doctor gives you when you are having this discussion. The more that you understand the more educated of a decision you will be able to make and the less scary the decision will become.

When your teeth are coming in properly and there are not any problems with them the doctor may suggest that he or she removes them him or herself. This is a procedure that can be done quickly and efficiently in the doctor's office.

If you are going to do this in the dentist office you want to make sure that you understand that you are going to be awake. There are some people that are just not comfortable with this idea of being awake throughout their surgery.

Although you will be awake your mouth will be numbed. The doctor will, more than likely, give you shots of a numbing medication in your mouth that will make it so that you cannot feel any of the work that the dentist is doing.

When you are being numbed you will notice that the shots are painful. This is something that you are not going to be able to avoid but that will be well worth the pain in the long run and you will be glad that you were able to endure.

As the dentist is giving you shots he will have to give you shots in some very sensitive areas of your mouth. There are a lot of people that are scared of these shots because they have to be given in the roof of the mouth and along your gum line.

There are a lot of people that do not feel comfortable having this procedure done while they are awake no matter what they can or cannot feel. You will see blood and you will hear the sounds of the dentist working on your teeth.

The dentist will then remove your teeth. There are also a lot of people that do not understand that a part of the tooth can easily get stuck deep in the gum when you have a dentist removing your teeth.

Although the piece of the tooth can get stuck you want to make sure that you know that the dentist will be able to remove it. The dentist will have to cut into your gum and often times will have to stitch your gums back up.

After you have the procedure done you will then have to make sure that you are taking the time to understand how you are going to heal quickly. The procedure can be painful and you want to make sure that you are avoiding as much pain as you possibly can.

The doctor will tell you that you cannot eat or suck things out of a straw. As you are taking the time to understand how you are going to get through the recovery process you should follow the doctor's words as best you can.

You should make sure that you are rinsing your mouth with salt water. As you are swishing this salt water through your mouth you will want to be gentle and it may help if you make sure that the water is warm.

The other option that you have is to have an oral surgeon take out your teeth. When the oral surgeon does this you will have to make sure that you understand that the recovery process is going to be longer.

You will be completely asleep so that you do not have to worry about hearing, smelling or feeling anything throughout the procedure. When you wake up you will no longer have any wisdom teeth in your mouth.

Taking the time to understand the two options much more thoroughly is important. When you know that your wisdom teeth are going to need to be removed you will have the ability to chose the way that you want your teeth removed.
