Museums and historical places demonstrate how long people have been living here. Though Europeans have been around just several centuries, fighting for control of this beautiful land, First Nations people inhabited its mountains, meadows and water side stretches for many hundreds of years before. Come and find out more about their ways and the impact of Europeans on their way of life.
Ontario Place has many roles. There is an ampitheater and amusement park. Take kids to their water park section, or even get wet yourself. Know this before visiting: everyone will want to cool off on a humid day in Eastern Canada. Take your need for cool to one of thousands of lakes and streams, perhaps doing some boating and fishing.
Hiking, cycling and walking are popular activities here too. Getting away from the city is not difficult. Though a day spent visiting Ottawa Parliamentary buildings or one of many big cities here may suggest otherwise, there are miles of forest and wilderness to explore. The same applies in winter, where trails open up for ATV or snowmobile. Rent one and send some powder flying. Come back six months later for a motorcycle tour to get a sense of contrast between December and June.
Accommodation options include hotels, motels, camping and high class resorts. Set preferences for family-friendly, casino or budget bedrooms. Try a country inn or lodge for a real get-away.
