1. Look for a coach that works within a comprehensive goal system.
I like to know where I'm going and exactly what I'm getting. I don't have a lot of patience for fluff answers to my questions and I don't want to waste my time with a lot of small talk that goes nowhere. I've tried a number of mentors and the ones that were really effective for me offered coaching as part of a comprehensive goal setting system. I like the ability to map out my future, do exercises and take action on my own, and consult the online life coach with specific questions on how to maximize my results.
2. Find a coach that is demanding yet supportive.
Listen, you're not looking for a therapist here. Remember what your objectives are - real life change! 3. Proven coaches only please!
Don't sign up for a coaching program that's offered by just anybody. Make sure they know what they are doing and they have a sterling reputation. Fortune 500 companies don't just give there money to anyone, so odds are if you can find a coach that has a track record working with executives and companies to get the most out of their people.
