Summer is approaching with lots of opportunities for fun vacation spots
. Northern Arizona has many breathtaking scenic places such as the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Navajo Nation, Hopi Mesas, and the Wild West town of Williams, Arizona.Pictures can't compare to seeing the Grand Canyon in person. There are many ways to see it. Visitors can take flight in a helicopter or plane tour. Hikers can hike down the trails or ride a mule down and back up. Visitors can camp at the top and or do day hikes. Brave visitors can go on the Sky Walk, a half circle glass path over hanging on the Grand Canyon so guests can see far beneath their feet.
Lake Powell is another gorgeous place with miles of slot canyons, beach, and water to explore. See Lake Powell by plane or houseboat and further explore by canoe, jet ski, or smaller boats. With varying water levels and its massive size, Lake Powell is a different experience each time you come back. 2010 marks the Rainbow Bridge Centennial with 100 years of Rainbow Bridge being a National Monument. It's one of the largest natural bridges in the world.
The Navajo Nation lives up to its name with 27,000 square miles and the biggest reservation in America. The Navajo Nation has fascinating culture, art, history, and scenic views. People can see historic petroglyphs, ruins, and national monuments such as Canyon de Chelly and Navajo National Monument in Monument Valley.
Hopi has a hotel near Tuba City, Arizona called the Moenkopi Legacy Inn and Suites. From there guests can arrange guided tours of the villages and Hopi lands. Hopi is one of the oldest continually inhabited places in North America, dating back to 900 A.D.
Williams is the gateway to the Grand Canyon and the last Wild West town in the southwest. Look around and you'll see cowboys and friendly folk on the historic Route 66. While it has modern, clean accommodations, you'll know you're in a mountain village. Take the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams to the Grand Canyon; watch out, it's a wild ride!
