Niseko Snow Holidays

The Different Seasons Of Niseko Japan

The winter season starts in November, usually the first snow falls happen towards the end of October or the start of November. Snow falls continue through to May. This means that Niseko gets seven months of snowfall, meaning Niseko has one of the longest ski seasons in the world.

The lifts open at different parts of the mountains at different times depending on snowfall, but you can generally find somewhere to ski in the Niseko United area by the end of November. The whole area opens at by the 15th of December and there is normally a great base by then. The snowiest time is generally January and February where you can generally expect and meter plus of snow fall every week and snow every day.

March is a great time to come skiing in Niseko as you still get the snowfalls but can also enjoy bluebird days with less people on the mountain. This is generally the off-peak season, so you may also be able to find some bargains out there.

Spring skiing in Niseko is great especially for backcountry and hiking - this goes right through to May. At the start of April the resort builds one of the largest parks in the world where you can get some amazing photo shots, just like the ones you see in the magazines.

Don't forget summer though, just because the snow has gone, it does not make the region any less spectacular. The summer season is definiately just as amazing as the winter.

With mild temperatures, it is ideal for all the great outdoor activities Niseko and Hokkaido has to offer. There is mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, horse riding, some of the most awesome golf courses which are definitely worth having a round or two on. Combine all this with some fantastic camping grounds and you can see why Niseko is really an all season resort area.
