Nintendo 3ds Will Miss The Holiday Season, But There's A Silver Lining

After telling the globe last March it were built with a 3D

, portable gaming system that did not require 3D glasses, Nintendo (NTDOY) finally held a conference to announce its release date yesterday. The massive news was that the handheld system, the 3DS, would on store shelves in Japan last month 26th and United states before the end of March 2011. Unfortunately for Nintendo, the headlines told an alternative story, declaring, somehow, which a delay by Nintendo meant it will miss this years holiday shopping season.

The odd thing is there is no delay. Off their first announcement assistance programs were March, which came as a short press release possibly used to jump previous to leaks, Nintendo claimed that it would have the new machine out by March 2011. Regardless of whether Nintendo may have pushed the 3DS out by the holidays, Pidgeon questions whether it would have been cost-effective to accomplish this. Instead, he says, Nintendo may be "more satisfied putting it out in a slow period," giving retailers an opportunity to discount the existing DS while clearing space with the new and exciting product to sell throughout the industry's lean times.

The 3DS defintely won't be cheap either.
