New York has so much to offer that one can literally spend a lifetime exploring the city and still find something new. This short article can obviously only touch on a couple of places worth paying a visit.

The genius of Frank Lloyd Wright's is visible and evident in the design of Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (also known as "The Guggenheim"). This museum features a great collection of twentieth century art. You can see the works famous artists as van Gogh, Picasso, Chagall and Kandinsky. This museum first opened in 1959 and has established itself as a cultural icon. If you are an art lover with a fascination on Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early Modern, or contemporary art, you will not want to miss this attraction while visiting New York.

The Empire State Building is 1250 feet or 381 meters tall, which makes it the tallest building in New York and third tallest skyscraper in the United States. In the eighty-sixth floor of the building, there is an observatory that gives its visitors absolutely stunning panorama views over the whole New York Metropolitan area and all the way to neighboring states. There is another observatory on the 102th floor with an additional entry fee. Not surprisingly, the Empire State Building is among the best known landmarks of New York.

St. John the Divine Cathedral is impressive both in style and size. In fact, with the inside of the cathedral covering 121000 square feet (11,200 square meters) and the height of the building being 70.7 meters (232 feet), it is perhaps the world's largest cathedral. Having been designed in 1888, the construction of the cathedral began in 1892. After significant reparation work subsequent to a fire, the cathedral was reopened in 2008. Some of the reparation work is still in progress.
