Are you planning a trip to New York City within the next year
? In order to save money and time, you might consider a New York Pass. These cards may be purchased up to a year in advance, with a number of purchasing options, that allow you to see New York's best attractions, as well as travel its transportation systems, far more cheaply than you would otherwise. An adult pass will cost 75 dollars for one day; however, the more days purchased means extra savings. A pass for a full week costs only 190 dollars, which works out to about 27 dollars a day. The card quickly pays for itself.The pass operates like a credit card. It contains a computer chip which provides free entry to 55 of New York's top tourist attractions. The pass is all you'll need to go on the Circle Line River Cruise, or gain entry to the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the Top of the Rock, Madame Tussaud's, Guggenheim Museum, the New York Skyride, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Food on Foot Tour, even Uncle Sam's Financial Tour. The pass also enables you to skip lines, and has an estimated value of 800 dollars!
Purchasing the pass for a full week may easily save you 346 dollars and 25 cents. A three day pass saves you about 155 dollars, a two day pass 111 dollars, and a one day pass as much as 58 dollars. These figures are based on use by a single adult who manages to visit three of the top attractions each day. The savings are obviously greater if the tourist is more adventurous and energetic.
It's important to note that the card doesn't "activate" until it's first used at an attraction in New York, and then remains active for the length of time for which you've purchased it, whether that's one, three or seven days. Make sure, though, to use the card early in the day, because no matter when the card is swiped, it begins counting from that day. If you first use the card at four in the afternoon on a Tuesday, then that counts as day one on the card. If you've arrived in the city late, it's best then to start using the pass the next morning (or after midnight, if you're using it for transportation!).
The New York Pass is an essential tool for visitors traveling in NYC, allowing access to everything from the Brooklyn Zoo and Botanic Garden, to "Bodies... The Exhibition," to the Broadway Theatre District Walking Tour, to the Prospect Park Zoo, and many others.
