National Childrens Art Project Titled we Are America Commissioned By Usicis

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is hosting a National Children's Art Project. Children aged between 5 and 12 years as of September 11

, 2010 from all over the United States can create artwork based on the theme, "We Are America." The artwork is also required to answer the question posed: "People have come from all over the world to become Americans. Why does that make us great?"

In collaboration with public libraries and other community-based organizations that assist America"s immigrant communities in this summer, USCIS will work on the National Children's Art Project. The entries will be exhibited in all USCIS offices across the country. On September 11, 2010, the participants will be recognized in the commemoration of the National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Submission forms for the National Children's Art Project can be obtained from the nearest USCIS office or can even be downloaded from www.uscis.gov/childrensartproject.

Submissions that reach the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office is required to be done on an 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17 inch paper. The artwork can be created using any medium, including paint, crayons, color pencils, or collage. In addition to the drawing, the artwork should also include a short paragraph of about 2-3 sentences, which interprets the theme, "We Are America" and answers the question posed. The last day for submitting entries is August 16, 2010.

Under circumstances where the official submission form could not be obtained, children"s artwork can be mailed to any of the USCIS offices in the country. Details about the artist, including the name, age, birth date, phone, city/state/zip, signature of the parents or guardian with names, and how did they come to know about the National Children's Art Project should be encompassed in the mail. Additionally, the mail should also enclose if the child"s parents are employees of USCIS.
