Myopia Treatment

Myopia occurs when the eyeball is slightly longer than usual from front to back

. Because of this defect, the light rays focus at a point in front of the retina rather than directly on its surface. Myopia is hereditary and usually shows its symptoms in childhood. Although myopia may stabilize at some point, it can also worsen with age, a condition known as myopic creep.

Myopia symptoms and correction

Common symptoms of myopia in children include squinting to see distant objects, difficulty reading the chalkboard at school, sitting close to the television, and disinterest in playing outside.

Myopia doubles the risk of glaucoma and retinal detachment, both of which can lead to vision loss later in life.

A basic vision test will determine if an individual is nearsighted. Myopia is relatively easy to correct with contact lenses or eyeglasses. The lens bends the images that enter the eye and focuses the image properly.

Treatments For High Myopia

High myopia can only be treated by getting rid of the tension in the eye muscles. To do so successfully and long-term you have to find out where the tension comes from, ie you have to determine the underlying causes for myopia. You can do that by yourself, totally naturally, you just need to become aware of how to do it.

Glasses, on the other hand, will never release the tension of the eye muscles, on the contrary, over time they will increase it, and that's why you need stronger glasses.

Now you know what causes rapid myopia in children. But what can you do to stop it? Since heredity is often a cause and probably the major cause, some of it is out of your control. However, there are changes in lifestyle you are able to make that will help prevent nearsightedness from progressing too quickly, and that keep your eyes as fit as possible.

Myopia is simply defined as 'short sightedness or 'near sightedness'. As the term implies, people are not able to see distant objects because the images appear blurry and fuzzy thus their eyes are only capable of seeing objects up close. The retina is a structure of the eye which is analogous to a movie screen hence everything we perceive in the real world falls on this anatomy.

Myopia causes :

1. Excessive reading and other close work such as writing.

2. Watching the TV too close.

3. Working on the computer.

4. Playing video games too long

Taking vitamin A is a treatment. You can eat foods that contain it. Foods like butter, raw spinach, milk cream, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, soy beans, green peas, carrots, turnip tops, and dates all contain vitamin A and are good sources of it. Mixing honey and liquorice together and drinking it with milk is also effective.

If you do have to strain your eyes by working long hours in front of the computer screen, remember to take a five to ten minutes break every forty minutes. Use the time to take a walk or look out the window to relax your eye muscles. Having a sufficient amount of sleep will also help in the prevention of myopia.

Myopia treatment can reduce the need for contact lenses as well as glasses should a person have refractive surgery whereby a laser is used. During the surgical procedure a layer of corneal tissue is removed and flattened allowing light rays to penetrate the retina.

Myopia is basically an elongation of the eyeball which creates a difficulty in seeing the appropriate distance when we are looking at an object. It is usually possible to see objects close up but the problem is when you try to focus on objects far away, hence the name short sightedness.
