My review of the Inertia Pecan Nutcracker and a great Pecan recipe for the holidays

I love pecans! I can eat them every day and in anything. I don't know why they're so darn tasty, but they are! I have found a lot of different nutcrackers out there to help me get into those little jewels, but none have them have worked the way the Inertia Pecan Nutcracker does. Not only does this nutcracker work fantastically on pecans, but any soft shell nut.

The Inertia Pecan Nutcracker is simple and fun to use. Yes, I said fun! I actually use this pecan nutcracker to relieve stress. It reminds me of a sling shot, but it isn't dangerous. This machine is powered by a rubber band. The rubber band goes around two little pegs. One is on the piston arm and one is on the base of the cracker. There is a handle on the piston arm. When you pull the handle back the arm slides and tightens the rubber band. The nut goes between the nut holder and the piston. When the piston arm is released it uses inertia to deliver the blow. The nut is then cracked leaving the meat completely in tack. This nutcracker is made from high grade machine steel and aluminum. The wood parts are made from Red Oak. The machine is fairly heavy, but slim. The weight helps keep it from moving when the piston arm is released.

My kids love using the Inertia Pecan Nutcracker because it makes them feel like they're getting away with something. I mean, who wouldn't want to pull bag a rubber band and let it fly? The cool thing is that if the rubber band breaks you can replace it very easily with any strong rubber band you can find in an office supply store or you can buy the replacement rubber bands for less than $3.00 online. My review of the Inertia Pecan Nutcracker and a great Pecan recipe for the holidays

The best price I have found for this nutcracker is $19.95. To me that makes this nutcracker a great gift idea, especially this time of year. Of course this gift is only complete if you buy a bag of the giftee's favorite nuts to go with it.

I have found that Gooseberry Patch has the most awesome line of cookbooks I have ever seen. They're practical and fun to use. I found a recipe for Pecan-Crusted Chicken in their Slow Cookers, Casseroles & Skillets Cook Book. Here is the recipe.

3 to 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

3 T. Dijon mustard

1 t. lemon juice

1/4 t. ground cumin

1/2 c. chopped pecans

1 T. dry bread crumbs

2 T. butter melted

Place chicken breasts in a lightly greased 13"x9" baking pan. Mix together mustard, lemon juice and cumin; brush mixture over chicken. Toss together remaining ingredients; press mixture onto chicken. Bake, uncovered at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, until chicken juices run clear when pierced. Makes 3 to 4 servings.
