My Journey to Meet People Washington DC
I went on a solo ski vacation in Colorado and met some amazing people to ski with, but when it came to Meet People Washington DC that was so much harder. One would think that meeting people where you live, or have just moved to, would be easy but that's not always the case. But there are ways to do it successfully.
When I first moved to DC from Florida I thought that I would instantly have my co-workers as one set of friends and then those friendships could lead to others. Wrong! The office I ended up working in wasn't the type of place where people were very friendly at all, nor did they go to happy hour after work. So began a long journey to meet people in Washington DC.
Next on my quest to Meet People Washington DC I focused more on my interests and hobbies as a way of meeting people. I'm a big fan of the outdoors and love walking, hiking, camping, and jogging. I joined a jogging club that met before work and I also joined a gym and started taking yoga and pilates classes. I found that to be a great place to meet some great women. But it still takes patience. Meeting people and becoming close friends immediately is not a realistic expectation. It takes time to build trust, work around everyone's busy lives, and fit them into yours.
Eventually I had a great circle of women friends, but then I was ready for a relationship with a man. Some of my friends set up blind dates with some single friend's of theirs but no one sparked my interest. So next I decided to go the internet route to meet single people. After some research I signed up with some online matching sites as well as one social networking site called Professionals in the City. I noticed that they had a singles speed dating event for men and women in my age group. Since I had never done speed dating I thought it might be fun.
The event turned out to be a lot of fun. I didn't meet anyone that interested me but I didn't give up and signed up for some of the different events that they hold. Eventually I believe I will meet someone I'll click with and will Meet People Washington DC. I'm not a quitter and I'm in no hurry to find the right man.
