People who are taking a vacation in the near future will want to check out Michigan

Travel and weather for visitor's information before heading up to this state of winter wonderland. There are many things to do and see in the state near the Great Lakes, and some activities can be enjoyed during the winter on the one of the lakes just as they can be done in the summer. Water and ice sports are a popular pastime in this Northern state.

Although Michigan experiences all the seasons, summer, autumn, winter and spring, they have extended winter temperatures due to their extreme northern location. Their summers are typically only a month or two long and then the colder atmosphere begins to sweep in from Canada and settle in for a long winter. Winter sports include hockey, ice fishing, figure and speed skating, snowmobiling and skiing.

Beginning with Flint, which has gotten a bad reputation lately, there are many fun and exciting things to do there, no matter what the temperature. There is the Flint Farmer's Market where people go year round for fresh fruit, vegetables and other food sources in addition to other household items. The outdoor market is filled with a rich history of what the state was back in the early 1900's and today it is merged with technology of various kinds. There are museums and cultural events planned almost every weekend.

A rebirth of Detroit, the largest city in the state, is happening because a lot of motion pictures studios out of Hollywood and other parts of the world are landing on their door step. This city has always been known as the car capital of the world, in addition to having a major influence on music with the Motown sounds. Today there is a three mile beautiful parkway along the riverfront which offers something for everyone, shopping, dining and entertainment. Detroit has become the 10th largest city in the United States.Michigan Travel And Weather Forecast-old History Plus Unique Glamour

Everyone is trying to be more eco-friendly and that includes many hotels in the Detroit and Grand Rapids areas. One could consider staying at a green lodge when visiting the state in order to help with the green efforts. This means that the sheets and towels are washed every other day instead of every day, recycling and composting is done as much as possible and other steps are taken to help conserve, reuse and reclaim the Earth.Michigan Travel And Weather Forecast-old History Plus Unique Glamour

It matters not what the weather is up to when visiting the Central Region of this state because there are a lot of attractions to enjoy. The state is home to the largest year round Christmas village, Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, which is as big as four football fields and contains over 50,000 different gifts for that special someone. Another great place to go, with less shopping and more screams of joy is the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, the only sand dunes east of the Mississippi River. Anyone with the proper equipment could ride a dirt bike, dune buggy, truck or ATV.

Additionally, there are many different things to do and see when visiting the Upper Peninsula Region. In the oldest city in the state, Sault Ste Marie, is the one of the largest waterway traffic systems, the Soo Locks. A boater could cruise their vessel along the international shoreline and enjoy the precision in which the locks work. And not to far from there is the Mackinac Island Butterfly House where guests can stroll along beautiful pathways, while between 500 and 700 different kinds of butterflies flit here and there, some stopping for a picture now and then.

To start planning a trip to Michigan, one should consult with a Michigan travel and weather guide online or a booklet from the Chamber of Commerce in the city they are planning on visiting. There is something to do for everyone in this northern state. There are more things to do in the colder, winter months than in the short, warm summer, however both are enjoyed by many.
