It wouldn't exactly be accurate to call Matthew Good a music entertainer
. After all, that would put him in the same category of the likes of Miley Cyrus and Steven Tyler. And any Good fan would say that he is much, much more than an entertainer. A more accurate description of the role Matthew Good plays in the music scene is a mix between a singer, songwriter, artist and activist. It is his commitment to equality and social justice that has kept his fans coming back for more with every new release. It has also kept Matthew Good tickets in high demand, which fans can get online.Lately, a few causes in particular have caught Good's attention. One has to do with the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Vancouver. In connection with the games, Vancouver is holding a Cultural Olympiad. According to The Ubyssey, Good called artists participating in the Cultural Olympiad "shameful" as it coincides with funding cuts to other, less prominent art organizations. Like other causes Good supports, others don't share his view and welcome any additional money the Olympics bring in to the city.

On his personal website, Good writes everything from his opinions on various causes to short fiction. Some of his favorite causes to talk about, according to his site, are mental health issues, poverty and foreign policy. His support for mental health issues goes even further, as he has a mental illness himself. After a long struggle, Good was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and he now advocates for more open discussions on the topic of mental illnesses.
