Marche, better known as the Le Marche is located in the western part of central Italy
. It is one of the best Italian holiday destinations and is quite popular with tourists who are on the lookout for fun filled, relaxing holidays. Le Marche, with its long coastline of 180kms on the Adriatic Sea and quaint rural scenery, has been an attraction to a vast majority of tourists over the past couple of years. Monte Conero Coast
The coast has some of the most spectacular beaches in Italy. Clear blue waters and a fascinating coastline with the mountains plunging into the sea are highlights of the Monte Conero Coast. The coast is deep and the beaches rather pebbly. The Riviera beaches are the best beaches on this coast.
Senigallia
This beach is rather famous for its fine golden sand. It has been called the velvet beach. The resort here at this beach is also very famous. Another popular attraction is the historical centre which is quite close to the beach. It an ideal holiday location with the commercial areas, tourist zones and fishing ports all being close at hand.
San Benedetto del tronto
A beach which is famous for its white sand and swaying green palms. The water is shallow and the seaside slopes gently. A perfect beach perfect for lazing about.
The historical towns of Le Marche are definitely worth a visit. These beautiful renaissance towns are a pleasure to look at and visit. The locals have preserved their towns well and they make for charming holiday destinations.
Urbino
This city with its renaissance architecture has been home to some of the most famous artists of the region. The Palazzo Ducale, which is the centerpiece of the city centre, is the masterpiece of the very famous Duke Federico and the towns main attraction. Some other sites of interest in the town are the church of San Giovanni Battista and the Oratory of San Giuseppe.
Ancona
This is the main port of Le Marche and the economic hub of the area. The Basilica of San Ciriaco, Arch of Trajan and many other Roman, Etruscan and Piceni artifacts are a must-see of the region.
Osimo
Osimo is the hill town. With many palaces and a number of underground secret tunnels, this town has many stories to tell.
Le Marche is well known for its natural beauty. Monti Sabillini which has some breathtaking scenery is located in the south of the region. The peaks are covered with snow most of the time. Frasassi caves are spectacular caves made of limestone. A place you would never want to miss is the Monte Conero. It has a high limestone mountain that beautifully plunges into the sea.
Marche is also famous for its rich art and culture regions. The best quality leather shoes are found in the historical town of Fermo and Montappone the hill town is famous for its variety of hats.
The cuisine of Le Marche is also very famous. Due to a long coastline, the region has a vast seafood menu. Along with seafood, favorite meats include rabbit, veal, goose and chicken. Pecorino is the famous cheese of the region, often used as a dessert owing to its sweet taste. The wines usually include rich red wine or a sparkling white vine.
