Mara Sopa Lodge is set in the Oloolaimutia valley within the Ngama Hills and on the edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve Kenya
. The Mara Sopa lodge is owned an operated by Sopa Hotels Lodges Kenya Tanzania and has been sympathetically built in traditional Masai style and its location provides ample opportunity for game viewing within the park, which is only a short drive away.The forested slopes of the Ngama Hills provides one of the more likely places to view the Mara's 20 or so black rhino as well as offering some great elephant sightings on the fringes of the forest. Mara Sopa lodge is located 230 km south of the Equator in Masai Mara Game Reserve, south-western Kenya, 2km from the Oloolaimutia Gate. The Reserve is the best known game area in East Africa.
Via a tarmac road from Nairobi to Narok and an all weather road thereafter it takes about five hours. The alternative is a one hour scheduled or chartered flight from Nairobi to Keekorok airstrip by Air Kenya from where transfers to the lodge can be arranged with African Safaris adventures.
Mara Sopa Lodge Hotel Accommodation
The Mara Sopa lodge has 200 beds with only 86 rooms, 12 suites and 1 Presidential suite, all of which are 'rondavel' style and have en-suite bathroom facilities which provide shaving sockets and hairdryers. Every room and suite has a private, elevated verandah with splendid views across the valley and on which guests can relax, sunbathe and watch resident birds and wildlife. Mini-bars are also available in each room.
At Mara Sopa Lodge there are 12 suites, 6 on either side of the lodge. They have a large living area, private spacious bedrooms with 2 queen size beds with a mosquito net, en suite bathroom with a shower, dressing table, coffee table with comfortable chairs and a mini bar. An ornamental fire place completes the decor of the rooms.
