Major tourist activities in Uganda
The republic of Uganda is a land locked country bordered by Sudan in the North, Kenya in the East, Tanzania in the South and Democratic Republic of Congo in the West. The pearl of Africa is well known for the source of River Nile and Lake Victoria. Its endowed with many natural tourist attractions including lakes and rivers, mountains, primates birds among others . If you want to travel through Uganda some of the major tourist activities you could do include:-
Mountain climbing
Uganda has several unusually beautiful mountains like: - Mountain Rwenzori, (this block mountain has the highest range in Africa, t's peak is covered with snow and glacier. Its so attractive to climb since it has a beautiful vegetation, the three highest peak, a variety of wildlife including elephants, buffaloes)Mountain Elgon (the only volcanic Mountain in Uganda located on Uganda- Kenya border and it has one of the largest surface areas of any extinct volcano in the world and is the 8th highest mountain in the whole world so If your interested in mountaineering, then the Rwenzori Mountain, being protected as Rwenzori Mountain national park and Mountain Elgon will offer you the unique experience you will savor for a lifetime.
Bird watching
Uganda is recorded to have a bird list of over 1008 species on 235,000 square kilometers which is more than half the bird species that can be found in the whole of Africa. The major places where birds can be viewed include Lake Mburo national park, Mgahinga, Queen Elizabeth national park, Rwenzori mountain national park, Makerere and above all Bwindi impenetrable .The endless list of different bird species including the enigmatic Shoebill that can be found in the papyrus swamps around Lake Victoria and other lakes, Yellow and White-winged Warblers, Papyrus Gonolek, Orange Weaver, crested crane e.t.c.
Gorilla tracking
Uganda is called the land of mountain gorillas because 50% of the word's mountain gorillas are found in Uganda, this means that the chances of tracking gorillas in Uganda are 99%.Gorilla Tracking is the major tourist activity in Uganda most especially in Bwindi and Mgahinga gorilla national park. This exciting activity is so physical and needs a lot of exercise.
Chimpanzee tracking
There are only 4,950 chimpanzees left in the Uganda and the are mainly found in the sanctuaries, zoos, and in the rain forests. The way they feed, care for their young ones respond to humans. These chimpanzees are mainly found in Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park ,Murchison Falls National Park
You can also be part of the habituation team to study the behavior of these primates in Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary where orphaned chimpanzees have been habituated.
White water rafting
Thousands of tourists have come to Uganda mainly for water rafting.This activity is done on River Nile (Africa's Longest River)and on Bujagali falls
