MLM Leads, What You Should Know Before You Buy Them

MLM Leads, What You Should Know Before You Buy Them

In this article I'm going to give detail on why buying leads is a total waste of your time and money

. Now there have been individuals who have built tremendous downlines through buying leads and calling them. However, in my opinion it's not an effective strategy for most people. The reality is you have to be on the phone all day and night to accomplish this. Most people who are successful from buying leads are calling thousands of leads in a few days or even outsourcing it to other people.

There are a number of different types of leads that you can buy and most of them have some catchy name to them to associate added value. A few that you'll hear about are "short form leads", "double opt-in leads", "phone interviewed leads", "redirect leads" and the list goes on and on.

Basically they all have the same process to develop them. A person does a search on the internet for keywords like "work from home" or "make money from home" etc. and they get a list of the top searches for those keywords. Most of the top listings in these keywords will be from lead generation companies.

When a person clicks on one of the links they come to a website with great copywriting which directs them to put in their name, email and phone number to learn more about opportunities available and a rep will contact them. This is called a "lead capture page" but I've seen a company call it an "online home business portal". See it sounds like it has more value doesn't it?MLM Leads, What You Should Know Before You Buy Them

Then they splinter each lead out to target exactly what a person will pay for and the more target the lead the more money you'll have to fork over. It starts with "single opt-in leads", which means a person puts int their information and clicks submit. Then they are sent an email to verify the person's information is correct. If that person clicks on the link in the email to confirm, they now become a "double opt-in lead". All this basically means is that the person opted into a capture page, opened an email and clicked on a link.

The different categories proceed from there when they receive a phone call right after they opt-in. If the prospect picks up the phone they are asked a series of basic questions. This person is then considered to be a "phone interviewed lead". This is fun isn't it?

Some leads are also placed into a group according to which company they might be a good match for. These mlm leads are called "company specific leads" or generic "wellness company leads" and "travel company leads".

The point I'm trying to drive home is that these people are giving their contact information and simply curious about working from home. So if you want to succeed with this strategy you're going to have a phone attatched to your head to find a few that are remotely serious. Most of the time you get a voicemail and never get a call back.

Now let's look at this from two different perspectives. From the prospects point of view they thought it would be cool to work from home. Maybe they had a tough day at work or their sick of their boss. They come home, do a search online and find something that talks about working from home and opt-in to get more information. Then they have 5 different people all calling them saying how great their company is.

This happens because their contact information is usually dispersed between 2 to 5 people from different companies. Unless of course you pay a premium price and you get leads that are targeted directly for your company and now you have 3 other people in your company calling them as well.

Now reflect back to when you were a prospect. Did you get involved with someone who called you from a list they purchased or from someone you know, like and trust? More than likely you joined that company because you had a relationship that was built with the person before you decided to join. It doesn't matter weather you just met them or you have known them for years. You decided to join them in that company because you knew them, you liked them, and you trusted them.

Now let's look at this from the marketers perspective. You buy some leads for a few hundred dollars and start calling and sending emails left and right. Out of all the leads you have, you are really lucky if you were able to talk to five percent of them. The rest of them you leave voicemails for and less than one percent of those ever call you back.

The people you did talk with are somewhat rude because they already received 3 calls that day from other people who are not professional at calling mlm leads. Now if you were quick on the draw and started dialing these leads right away, you find out that the majority of them are not really serious at all about starting a business.MLM Leads, What You Should Know Before You Buy Them

So, in my opinion, buying leads are not an effective way to develop a successful thriving business. If you break network marketing down to it's simplest form, it comes down to three absolutely essential factors. Without these three factors you will not be successful in any network marketing venture regardless of the company you are with.

The first essential factor is to have a list of people to contact. This is obviously the part where buying leads would come into play. However there are much better ways to build your list that will catapult you into the success that you're wanting to attain.
