Looking For Holiday Apartments? Why Not Head To Glasgow?

Everyone loves a beach holiday in the sun, but with so much to do on our own doorstep

, why not book a break in some contemporary holiday apartments in the UK and enjoy what our own country has to offer for a change?

The obvious choice for a UK break is London, with its wealth of attractions, culture and shopping. But outside of London, possibly one of the most exciting places to visit is Glasgow in Scotland.

Lively and cosmopolitan, Glasgow is now a vibrant and cultural destination popular with overseas visitors, as well as those from within the UK. Holiday apartments are of a very high standard in Glasgow, and offer you somewhere to relax and retreat to after each day's exploration.

If you are interested in art, head to Glasgow for some of the most exciting, world-famous art collections you can find, including those at the Compass Gallery and The Glasgow School Of Art, the latter of which is a building designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Scotland's best-known architect.

Fans of Mackintosh's work will enjoy touring the city and spotting his work which adorns many of the great attractions in the city.

Art and culture are very prominent in the Glasgow scene, and there are over 20 museums and galleries which boast free entry, including the Museum of Religion which looks at the importance and influence of different religions on people's lives through time, and The Burrell Collection, a group of over 9,000 works gifted to Glasgow in 1944 by Sir William Burrell.

Works originate from all over the world, and you can see tapestries, medieval art, alabasters and stained glass, as well as Islamic art, European paintings and sculpture from Rodin and Epstein, and ancients collections from Egypt, Rome, China and Greece.

Spend a day exploring and then relax and dine at one of the fantastic restaurants in Glasgow, which offer a cosmopolitan choice for all tastes and budgets. Retire to one of the many lovely holiday apartments based in the city and rest for a night before setting off to explore again.

A trip to see the Robroyston Wallace Monument is moving; here you can stand on the spot William Wallace stood more than 700 years ago on his last night as a free man. Wallace fought for the freedom of Scotland, his country, and spent his last night as a free man at this spot on 3rd August 1305.

This merely scratches the surface of the history and culture that Glasgow has to offer. This vibrant city has been turned around from poverty-stricken to exciting and dynamic, and has something to offer for every kind of visitor.
