London truly deserves its position at the center of the European continent. London Eye

No one in the world would have expected the modern day creation that it is as the newest addition to London's Skyline. But, the Millennium Wheel - the London Eye, weighing 1800 tons stood 135 meters high above the waters of The River Thames in The Jubilee Gardens. The capital city entered the millennium year 2000 with its world famous and marvelous giant Ferris wheel operated by Tony Blair in 2000. London Tourism


It is the 7 year struggle of the architects that gives a complete view of London from the heights up to 40 km in all directions. You enter one of the 32 air conditioned capsules and enjoy a 30 minute ride in the wheel which operates at the same constant speed. You can book a cupid capsule or privatize capsules for celebrations. Riding in the eye gives you a breathtaking experience. Today, it is London's most visited tourist attraction.

Covent Garden

Covent Garden is a historical London District that offers locals and visitors a lovely ambiance for setting up residential life and relaxation with excellent shopping and touring options. This Market was London's famous market for fruits, vegetables and flowers. But, today it offers all kinds of goods. In the earlier days, goods to the market were brought in boats across The River Thames.

Bow Street with the Royal Opera House is located in this district. The street also houses London's first police station. Live entertainment and good food is the specialty of the Square - The Piazza is at the centre of Covent Garden. With license for outdoor entertainment, the Square attracts people to this spot rocking with famous entertainers everyday. For traditional British style food, visit the Garden on Thursdays. Covent Garden Market is home to shops and markets with exotic collections of goods. Apple Market and Jubilee Market are special for traditional crafts and antiques. You can buy anything that you could wish for at Covent Garden. London's oldest theatre, Theatre Royal is also located here. The London Transport Museum in Covent Garden exhibits London's road and rail transportation. The majority of the collections are exhibited in the museum in Acton.

British Museum

The British Museum is one of London's historical museums and has the world's best collections of arts, antiquities, objects, scripts, textbooks and much more. The Museum has more than 7 million objects from different continents around the globe. Sir Hans Sloane, a scientist and physician, marked the opening of the museum with his 71,000 objects from different countries. The Museum is over 250 years old and functions in two different buildings today. The Library and Natural History Museum are in separate buildings accommodating over 225 million subjects. The museum is at present a three floored building with 8 levels operating 10 different departments. On Weekends and school holidays, the museum offers a great variety of activities and objects for visitors to come and enjoy. London Tourism


Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace, Westminster, is the residence of the British Monarch. Constructed in the 18th century, the Palace became the official London residence of the Royals in the second quarter of the 19th century. More than 50,000 tourists visit the Palace every year and over 400 people help in activities in the palace. The public is allowed to visit the palace on all days and visitors can enter the Queen's gallery to see collections owned by Britain. The collections also include paintings and artworks of famous artists. The Royal Mews with the Golden State Coach and horses in the Royal stables are visited by tourists.

The Changing of guards ceremony happens every morning at 11.30 outside the palace. Spectators crowd outside the palace to watch the ceremony. Four guards replace four other guards as a military march is played. The Palace also houses a 40 acre garden with beautiful flowers and waters.

When a city at the centre of a continent has all these, why not visit it at least once? Visit London!
