Lake Tahoe Seeks Out Eco-tourism
Lake Tahoe could soon become a grand global example of Eco-Tourism
, as many urge to take full advantage of its natural attributes. Members of the Tahoe Steward Congress, attending their meeting after Traveling by bus, boat or other more sustainable methods of transport. The group were set to discuss ecologically viable plans for the future, concentrating on sustainability.Also on the agenda is tourist based activities focusing on appreciation of the natural landscape that do not cause determent to the environment. Nature hikes, water transit and recycling tours were all discussed as a means of putting Tahoe on the Eco Tourism map, launching the area as a 'world stage for sustainable stewardship'.
With $1.5 billion already spent on restoring the Tahoe area, the area must work on establishing a sustainable tourist base to reward such an investment. Rather than the system place in the sixties which is said to have 'ran out of gas', a fitting metaphor for these times. Central, is the goal to create geo tourism, which takes advantage of Tahoe's physical attributes without doing damage to them. Plans are also being put in place for businesses to be promoting health and wellness. At the moment the current touristic approach is said to not be properly serving the lake.
While much of Tahoe has been restored, a boost in a fledgling economy is crucially needed to help maintain a fund for future problems that may arise. David Hansen, an engineer for Embassy Suites at the south if the river said that the area desperately needed to cut back on energy levels that occurred due to the waste from Styrofoam and other non-sustainable food packaging. Hansen considers changing environmental practice as vital to Tahoe's future. Corporate America can change this world, he said, hoping for America to be a leader in environmental sustainability.
Sustainability will continue as a vital goal at Sierra Nevada college, said the college President Richard Rubesmen, who arrived at the conference on an electric scooter. The college President then began top speak of his desire to make the college the first in the world to be fully LEED certified for for environmental responsibility.
Harmon Zuckerman, who is leading Tahoe regeneration believes there is no shortage of ways to make the area more economically and environmentally viable. With the increased demand for environmentally conscious projects, Tahoe hopes to dazzle the world with a display of environmentally friendly attractions, in this respect becoming a bench mark for Geo tourism.
Tahoe has always been a solid spot for lovers of nature, featuring some of the greatest landscapes in the US, now lovers of nature will be able to enjoy the area with a clear conscious as they gaze over the water from their Lake Tahoe vacation rental.
"Inspiration may be Tahoe's most marketable quality," Zuckerman said. "Tahoe is indeed a world stage. Let's put on a better show."
So perhaps this is heralding in a new era of holiday making in which tourists are offered viable ways to take their break, enjoying nature without damaging it.
