? NO? Then, you should be. Haven't you heard about stories of kids getting into trouble due to their activities on the internet? Haven't you heard about stories where young people being stalked by someone they have met online or fallen as a victim of an identity theft?Yes! In reality, parents very often feel helpless when it comes to monitoring their children in doing online. Parents often fail to realize how much of an addiction it can prove to be for their child. Your children are in a virtual world where any information that is once shared on cyber space cannot be taken back, ever. They may be good at interacting with colleagues, friends or teachers in school or college. But the same may not be true when they come to the cyber world. May be, it is the assumption that they are not dealing with people face-to-face that leads them to be a bit careless. They tend to share their family photos or phone numbers that very often lead them in to trouble that they haven't dealt before.
As internet has so far proved to be an integral part to the lives of children, it is impossible to keep your child away from the cyber world. Even if you do, there are always other means like the many cyber cafes scattered across your county that they can have access to. Hence, the best way to make your child aware of the impending trouble is to educate him/ her about the ways to avoid such ugly situations.

Keep a watch: Being bit tech-savvy yourself can always help you to get to know the websites that your child has surfed. Keep a watch on them.
Keep Personal: Teach them to keep their personal information's private. Things like phone number, address, credit card details should not be shared with anyone. Make them understand that giving out such vital information can severely harm them in a bid to make friends with someone online.
Keep it short: Always make them understand that the topic of discussion should not be very personal. Don't ever make them share things like username and login ID's. It can turn out to be very dangerous for anyone who gives away their name, age, or hometown in their user name.
Online lies: It is impossible to verify someone's identity whom you meet online. So, do tell to your child about the dangers of flirting with strangers online.
Never punish or scold your kid: Talk with your child. Then only they will share with you if anything untoward incident that has happened while they were online.
