Know More About Boats

If you haven't spent much time out on the water you may think all speed boats are pretty similar. But you would be wrong. There is a diverse array of speed boats out there, all designed for a variety of different tasks. Having said that there are two big classes that most speed boats can be divided into: Ski boats and Fishing boats.

With Ski boats there are a number of features that you need, first up you are going to need to have a decent sized engine as pulling someone up on skis or a wakeboard requires a lot of torque. If you don't have a powerful enough engine then the person at the end of the rope will have a hard time of it. Also, a Ski boat needs to have a pole or a wakeboard tower on which the ski rope is attached. A good ski boat will also have a soft wake, though for wakeboards many prefer a bigger wake so they can do more aerial jumps. Usually Ski boats are quite small and often they do not have a cabin, but you can get bigger ones that have some form of indoor area.

Most Fishing boats that are used by recreational fisherman will have a number of features that are either important or vital when fishing. First up, depending on what you are fishing for, many boats will have specialised silent electric motors so that you can manoeuvre close to the fish without scaring them away. Another feature most Fishing boats have are rod holders so that you can set your rod down without it sliding all over the place. These are vital as fishing can take hours and you need somewhere secure to put your rod. Most Fishing boats will also have special receptacles for bait and a place to put fish after you have caught them. Many also have an area for you to gut and fillet your fish. Having a beer fridge is an added bonus.

You can get boats that are good for both skiing and fishing, though often there will be a compromise on the capabilities of either or both activities.
