, is an American baseball player playing in Major League Baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies. After the 2009 season, the pitcher who won the 2008 World Series Phillies Avenue, 166 games for an average ERA of 4.21.After his secondary education at the Franklin-Simpson High School Franklin (Kentucky), Joe Blanton following graduate studies at the University of Kentucky where he wears the colors of the Kentucky Wildcats from 2000 to 2002.
Joe Blanton was drafted June 4, 2002 by the Oakland A's first round selection (24th choice) . He made his debut on the mound for the team at the end of the 2004 season, where he appears three times in succession.
He launched his first full season in Oakland in 2005. His record is 12 wins and 12 losses with an ERA of 3.53. It establishes a new team record in A's with 33 starts for a rookie pitcher, also the team record with twelve payoffs for a player first season. The American League named him rookie of the month of June 2004.
In 2006, Blanton established career high 16 victories against 12 losses. In 2007, his record is 14-10.
The pitcher is having trouble with the Oakland Athletics in 2008. In July, when his record is 5-12 with an ERA of 4.96, the A's in exchange for the National League.
