Its All Go For Outsourcing Companies

Its All Go For Outsourcing Companies

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, 600 Group boss David Norman noted that some Asian countries lacked the skills to manufacture high-end devices

. The company bought a factory in Poland earlier this year and is looking to Europe as part of its growth strategy. If its high volume and repetitive, China is quite a good place to do it, he said. If youve got high logistics costs, low volume and high priority, its much better to do it in either a central or Eastern Europe country.

Mr Norman added that it made sense to expand in Eastern Europe than the UK or the Far East due to the relative shortage of skills and pointed out those overheads and labour costs in Poland were modest.

His comments came after construction services group Carillion issued a confident forecast for its prospects in 2012, predicting that cutbacks in local authority spending will open up a range of outsourcing opportunities.

A senior executive of the Indian outsourcing group Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) recentlyplayed down speculation that the parlous state of the global economy could impact the outsourcing sector. According to MarketWatch, TCS vice-chairman Subramaniam Ramadorai said in a recent interview with Dow Jones Newswires that he remained cautiously optimistic about the demand outlook for technology outsourcing services in spite of fiscal worries in the US and Europe.

Indias technology industry has witnessed rapid growth in recent years, but there are concerns the long-running economic crises in some Western countries could dampen demand for overseas outsourcing. Banking stocks have come under pressure over the last couple of weeks as fears over eurozone sovereign debt have resurfaced.

Last week, TCS chief executive N. Chandrasekaran told CNBC that there had been no signs of cutbacks or delays to IT outsourcing projects recently, and said he didnt foresee a slowdown in discretionary expenditure on technology.

However, although there is plenty of doom and gloom surrounding the world of outsourcing, there are still many outsourcing companies that are successfully trading, thanks to the many business that choose to work in this way. The German financial giant Deutsche Bank is an example of one of these companies, after agreeing a new deal that will see IT application support outsourced to the Indian third-party provider HCL.

In a statement issued late last week, HCL confirmed it had been hired to provide application support for Deutsche Banks capital markets division for the next five years, having already established a relationship with the lender going back over ten years.

Leading global banks are looking for ways to improve their application product management, to increase efficiency and enhance productivity, said Celent analyst Anshuman Jaswal. As part of this development, key processes have to be transformed throughout the organisation.
