Wherever your child's interests lie, attending a specialized creative arts camp is a great way for her to nurture her passions and develop her skill sets. A variety of these programs are offered across the country, with specialties ranging from dance and music to arts and sports. They provide a full artistic immersion in which children are exposed to these activities for a large part of every day. But before sending your child to one of these programs, it's a good idea to gauge her interests and skill levels in order for her to get the most out of the experience.
Many camps have a minimum age requirement of 7 or 8 years old, and it's likely that your child will be showing a curiosity for certain activities by this point in her development. Have a discussion with your child and find out what activities she is interested in, whether it's something she is already passionate about or a skill she's always wanted to learn. Also, be sure your child is aware of the length of the camp - and that the interest level is high enough for the session in mind. While some are just one or two weeks long, others might last for most of the summer. But whatever type of arts camp is chosen, your child will greatly benefit from an experience that cultivates her passions, while teaching her some important life lessons in the process.
