Is The Hcg Diet Plan Right For You?

For those who have battled with their weight for a number of years

, dieting is a familiar way of life. For many, or even most, it is a yo-yo affair of losing weight, regaining it back and more, then repeating the process over and over again. We are told that this is an unhealthy thing to do but are offered few alternatives beyond the next popular diet in hopes that this one, finally, may be the one that will offer long-lasting results.

The HCG diet plan has the potential to be that long-term answer for permanent weight loss. HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone that makes abnormal fat reserves available to the body to be burned as fuel. As it makes available these stored fat deposits to be metabolized, thousands of calories are released into the system allowing the dieter to consume very few calories yet not be hungry. This makes the HCG diet plan easier to stay with than other calorie restrictive diets. It is also more effective because it targets the stored fat that is the last to be burned by other diets with .5 to 2 pounds of fat loss a day being the norm.

The HGC diet plan involves a series of prescribed Phases that must be followed exactly to achieve the dramatic weight loss possible. Phase One is the cleansing stage that rids the body of toxins, including the liver, gall bladder, and colon using a cleansing program of choice. Phase Two begins with two days of "loading" while taking homeopathic HCG drops three times per day. The dieter eats high fat content foods, as much as possible, to build normal fat reserves while the HCG begins to work on the stored fat. The load days also serve a mental and emotional function to reduce cravings later when calories are reduced to make it easier to be successful on the program.

Depending on the amount of weight loss desired, days 3 through 23 or 40 will consist of taking the drops three times a day while eating a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) of about 500 calories per day. The diet consists of typically two 3-ounce servings of lean meat per day with one fruit and one vegetable serving and one piece of melba toast. Unsweetened herb tea, black tea, and coffee are allowed in unlimited amounts.

Though very restrictive, because of the calories released from fat reserves by the HCG, most report being entirely satisfied with this very limited amount of food. With a commitment to the program, dramatic and safe weight loss can be achieved in a short amount of time with the HCG diet plan.
