Investing In Auto Performance Parts

Tired of feeling like your car is average? For drivers who want to impress while

enjoying the highest vehicle performance possible, auto performance parts have a huge appeal. If youre new to the exploration of performance enhancing auto tools, there is plenty of information out there on various parts that might appeal to you. First you have to decide what it is you want to improve for your vehicle.

Superchargers

Speed lovers are always looking for ways to optimize the power of their vehicle. One way to achieve this is by building bigger engines. Bigger engines weigh more and are expensive however. You can add power to a vehicle by adding a supercharger. This works by forcing more air into the existing engines combustion chamber. More air leaves room for more fuel, and more fuel allows for much better horsepower. A supercharger pressurizes the air intake so that it is compressed to the point where it surpasses atmospheric pressure levels. More air is forced into the engine, so more fuel is added to the charge. Superchargers will generally add about 46% more horsepower!

Turbochargers Investing In Auto Performance Parts

These are very similar to superchargers. They both increase the pressure in the air intake of the engine. The only difference is the two chargers energy sources. The supercharger is powered by belt drive from the engines crankshaft, while turbochargers get their power from the flow of exhaust gas created by combustion, driving the turbine. Factory turbochargers are typically used for city driving. These are smaller, with lower maximum boost capabilities. By contrast, there are monster race turbochargers which need tons of exhaust gas just to move. These can produce huge boost levels and amazing horsepower but leave a vehicle more or less un-usable on a typical street.

Cold Air Intake

This is a system that effectively drops the temperature of air going into your car in order to increase the engines internal combustion power. Cold air intakes also make an appealing engine noise that many drivers like. These systems replace your vehicles air filter. The cold air intake system has a cylindrical tube with a filter at its end. It is positioned so that the filter sits in the cooler part of the engine bay. That way the engine draws in colder air than it would with your regular filter. This system allows the engine to receive a denser air and fuel charge, improving its horsepower. Best of all, cold air intakes are easy to install. The kits come with directions but the process is very simple, requiring only a screwdriver.
