Internet Marketing And Twitter Marketing

Twitter Marketing

Market Your Business with Twitter

Twitter is one of the most popular and newest social networking applications on the Web. Its popularity continues to grow stronger each day with more people sharing knowledge and every day experiences. In just one year, Twitter has become the third most popular site on the internet. This is your chance to introduce your business to the masses.

One of the greatest boosts to marketing with Twitter will be to learn how to communicate effectively. Below you will find tips and the best techniques on how to communicate well on Twitter without appearing too aggressive or spam-like.

Please Note: Before you get started please read the Twitter Rules to find out more about violations.

Twitter Marketing Tips

Creating a profile on Twitter is not enough. Once you create a profile page with a picture and some information about your business you need to add your website address as well as a short biography about your business, service, or product. This will allow people who are interested in following your tweets to understand your intent on Twitter.

Follow me, follow you. There is a simple way to add more followers to your social media network on Twitter. On your home page, you will see a search box in the right-hand navigation bar. Type a keyword or phrase that is relevant to your industry. This is a great way to find your industry's target audience. See who else is making related tweets that you think would enjoy following your tweets. Click on their name and then click on the "Follow" button. Most people on Twitter are looking to communicate with people that have the same interests as them. Do not be afraid to make the connection. Once you start following people with the same interests, they will follow you. This is how you build your followers.

Add organizations and communities related to your industry. Another way to build your followers is to find others within your industry. Click on 'Find People' in the top navigation bar and search for relevant organizations and communities. Click "Follow" on the right hand side and these organization's and community's will "Follow" you back. In addition, their followers might be interested in your service and feed. You can also start following them individually and they will follow you back.

Welcome new Followers. As you start building your network of followers, you will have people adding you to their network. Make sure that every time someone adds you to their follower list you always respond with a short message to them. Messages should be brief, introducing your website and placing a link with something new and interesting about your site.

Add the Twitter button "Follow me" to your website or blog. This will direct the people that click on the "Follow me" button to your personal Twitter page.

Post daily. Tweet meaningful, relevant and readable content that your followers are going to look forward to and enjoy. Do not spam! Twitter is a social network, not a channel for spamming. If you overwhelm your readers with spam or unrelated information, your followers will stop following you.

Post information about your company, products, services, industry, special programs, deals, sales, events, conferences, news, blogs, webinars, and anything else that is relevant and may be of interest to your followers and potential followers.

Do not overwhelm your readers with posts on one single topic.

Tweeting Tips

Using the "@" symbol before a Twitter username is how people have conversations with one another on Twitter. For example: Thanks @sam283 I appreciate the words of wisdom.

Using the "#" sign before a word means that you want to tweet about a particular thing (event, individual or place) on Twitter. This is the way to tag a conversation so everyone can filter it using Twitter Search. For example: #TGIF: Thank God It's Friday.

Using the "RT" acronym will "retweet" or repeat/quote someone else's tweet. For example: RT @sam283 I found this great article you should read http://

Ask questions. Asking a question is a great way in which followers and other people on Twitter can engage in some type of conversation with you.

Comment on other people tweets. Those tweets will be visible by followers of the person in which you tweeted about or with and they may become your followers.

Ask for a specific action on your Twitter feed. An example of an action is a retweet. If you don't ask for retweets, people will not give you one.

Monitor tweets/conversations about your company. This will allow you to identify important information your target audience is looking for regarding your company. Search regularly for your pertinent keywords to see who is talking about things relevant to your business.

Think outside the box and find ways in which you can have people share information about your company, products, and services.
