The tropical gardens are comfortably cool and provide a welcome pause for relaxation on a hot day. Truman Little White House

Key West's strategic location turned it into a U.S. naval base during the Spanish-American War, as well as World War I and World War II. After the war, the naval station command headquarters served as President Harry S. Truman"s winter White House.
