Increase In The Number Of Travellers Who Took Dominican Republic Holidays In First Quarter Of 2012

Francisco Javier Garcia, the Dominican Republics minister of tourism proudly reported

a 7.8 per cent increase in the number of travellers arriving for their Dominican Republic holidays through the local airports in the first quarter of 2012. Of the first three months of the year March saw the most significant uplift in arrival figures with a nine per cent increase as a result of 39,471 more visitors to the nation than in March 2011.

Mr Garcia noted, The main reasons visits continue to increase are the country's magnificent, unspoiled nature, year-round sunny and warm climate, beautiful beaches, golf courses, world-class hotels, thriving culture and gastronomy. Visitors from around the world also say that their favourite aspect of the destination is how well friendly Dominicans treat them"

The announcement was made at the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE 2012) event which was held at the Hotel Barcel Punta Cana Convention Centre. The annual DATE event, sponsored by the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES), is possibly the single most important networking event for the Dominican Republic as it brings together key stakeholders in the tourism industry including tour operators, marketing firms, and travel agencies. Undoubtedly, the announced growth in the number of visitors booking Dominican Republic holidays during the first quarter of the year would have served to boost confidence in the island as a leading travel destination and has certainly raised the bar for the remaining months of 2012.

For many the news may come as no surprise as the Dominican Republic has long been one of the most popular Caribbean holiday destinations for international travellers hoping to escape to an island paradise. Known best for its beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters at popular destinations like Punta Cana as well as the warm hospitality and amazing all inclusive deals available at any one of the many luxury Dominican Republic hotels; the growth of this popular Caribbean destination shows no signs of slowing down.

With its gorgeous sunny climate and host of activities available to visitors including whale watching at the beautiful Samana Peninsula; there is no denying that Dominican Republic holidays truly do live up to the nations slogan the Dominican Republic has it all.
