How to impress your guests this holiday season

In the coming Christmas Day, you can wow your guests with these savory pastries about which I am going to discuss here. You need to have different types of savory puffed pastry to serve during holidays to your guests. You will find hundreds and thousands of them at the baking stores or you can prepare them even at home with the help of the instructions. But, if you really want to incorporate the nutrition and the delicacy, both these factors into your prepared food, then you must consider the following ideas of savory pastries.

Mini Quiches with Brie and Apple

It won't take much time to prepare these mini quiches. Use the readymade phyllo cups to fill with peeled and finely diced apple. On top of the apple, pour the whisked mixture of egg, Dijon mustard, ground nutmeg, salt and ground pepper. However, do not fill up to the brim as this will create a problem. Finally top every phyllo cup with Brie square. Place these cups on a parchment-lined baking sheet and put this into oven to bake at 350F for about 15 minutes. The quiches are ready, when the egg settles, the Brie melts and the phyllo turns golden brown. Let the puffed pastry cool down to room temperature, before serving to the guests.

Roasted Vegetable Gallet with Olives

This recipe uses different types of vegetables like butternut squash, carrots, parsnips and beet. First the crust dough is prepared by mixing the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, sugar and salt with water and olive oil. You can do this in your food processor or by hand. Finely chopped and pitted Kalamata olives are added to the dough. Meanwhile, the vegetable cubes are roasted at 400F on a sprayed baking sheet after seasoning them with oil, rosemary, salt and pepper. Roasted garlic and goat cheese are used to toss with the roasted vegetables. Next, the gallete is assembled by rolling the dough and filling it with the roasted vegetables. The edge of the rolled dough is brought over the filling to cover it partly. More goat cheese is sprinkled on top. The crust is brushed with egg white and then it is baked at 400F for at least half an hour.
